http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 praises the Colombo pitch – Cricket News Update
Having scored a superb half-century in the warm-up fixture of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, India’s young middle-order batsman, Rohit Sharma, was left impressed with batting-friendly strip at R. Premadasa, Colombo, and
believes that the track will help batters make plenty of runs in the tournament.
Pakistan defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 by five wickets and as many balls to spare in a practice match on Monday, with the batsmen from both the sides dominating the proceedings.
After winning the toss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 elected to bat first, which turned out to be the right decision as the Men in Blue posted a mammoth total of 185 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets, riding on the shoulders
of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 and Rohit Sharma, who scored smashing fifties.
Pakistan however, batted out of their skins to chase down the total in the innings’ last over, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088, who regained his form with some
fluent stroke play.
Sharma expressed that the pitch was a brilliant one for the batsmen but it was also assisting the slow bowlers. The 25-year-old cricketer is disappointed that the Indian bowlers failed to make an impression.
"The track was very good to bat on. It was a typical Sri Lankan wicket; if you bat well and apply yourself, you will get runs here. It was a good target I felt on this track, because I thought there was a little bit of help for the
spinners. But it was one of those days where things didn't come together,” the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 expressed.
The stylish batsman refused to admit that the Indian team were complacent and maintains that the boys gave their hundred percent. However, Rohit urged the bowlers to raise their game if the Men in Blue are to do well in the event.
"We were very focused,” added Sharma. “We were quite intense in the field. It's just that our bowling didn't click together, which is a little bit frustrating because if you want to win the game everything has to click together.”
