Rohit and Rahane form a worry Indian Selectors - Cricket News Update
Following the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, the form of two of Indian’s most promising talents, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, has become a major worry for the national team selectors.
The Men In Green faced serious problems on their last travels last year, losing all 8 Tests player in 2011-2012 season, making it a huge concern for the One Day champions as the country is renowned for producing some of the world’s greatest batsmen.
The Men in Blue will battle out 10 Test matches in the coming season and will have to prepare themselves accordingly, but with batsmen faltering one after another, the situation remains perplexing for the BCCI.
Just for this purpose, the board organized an “unofficial” India A Test series with the West Indies A. While the early signs were promising, the team suffered back to back defeats to lose the series 2-1.
This result further raised concerns for the board as players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 failed to impress. Being groomed for the Test lineup, both youngsters underperformed by a fair margin, leaving the selectors in a dilemma of whether to include
them in Test squad.
"The selectors were keeping an eye particularly on three players -- Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Pujara. Certainly, Rahane and Rohit's performance left a lot to be desired. Especially, Rohit, who has failed in five consecutive innings," a senior BCCI
official, preferring anonymity, told PTI on Wednesday.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals’ star performer was singled out for his ability to play proper cricketing shots where as other batters looked to slog and scoop. Catching the eye with his elegant stroke play, and scoring with an average of 63.94 in First-Class, the right-hander
hander failed in the Caribbean, managing just 62 runs in six Test innings.
"Rahane has never had a prolonged bad patch considering his average of 60 plus in first-class cricket over five years. But obviously, the selection committee has lot of expectations from Rahane and it's been disappointing," the official said.
Possessing genuine talents, both batters will need to reassess their priorities in order to stake a permanent claim in the national Test team.
