Rokocoko set to return to Auckland
Star winger Joe Rokocoko is set to return to Auckland and help his club team in their quest for the ITM Cup. The veteran was held out of the line-up for two weeks in order to rest after taking part in the Tri Nations Cup.
Rokocoko is said to have resumed training and will get a slow introduction back into Cup play. Auckland head coach Mark Anscombe will use the 27-year-old off the bench in their match this weekend against Hawke’s Bay.
Anscombe spoke about bringing Rokocoko back into the fold, stating. “He’s had a busy year of rugby and has come into a new environment with different calls and names so we thought it would be easier for Joe to come off the bench and inject himself into the
game in the second-half.”
Rokocoko is a tremendous winger and there is no doubt that Auckland is excited to get him back on the roster. The superstar is 19th all-time in scoring with the club, having registered 95 points and 20 caps since 2004.
Auckland has been playing strong rugby this season, currently sitting in third spot. Nevertheless, they sit three points behind their rival Canterbury. Auckland also has only earned 193-points-for this season, which is the lowest among the top 10 teams in the
League. The club will be hoping Rokocoko can bring some more offence to the line-up in time for the final four games of the season.
In addition to Rokocoko, Waikato will get an All Blacks player back in Mils Muliaina. Muliaina is expected to be in the line-up when the club takes on Otago on the weekend. The Hamilton side will be excited to get the New Zealand international back, as they
are struggling to remain in the top seven this season.
