Portuguese International Rolando’s move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala has been called off, after the Wild Division were unable to reach a compromise with their Liga Sagres counterparts.
The 26-year-old has cemented his place as one of the best centre-backs in the country after moving from Belenenses in 2008. Since his arrival at Estadio do Dragao, the defender has made 101 appearances while scoring an impressive tally of 7 goals.
His performances on the International front with the Navigators and Porto in the UEFA Europa League has placed him in the spotlight over the past year or so. As a result several top European clubs have expressed interest in acquiring his services.
During the summer, the former Campomaiorense man was rumoured to be on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain, but a move did not materialize as the Ligue 1 outfit turned their attention to other targets.
Proposed switches to the Italian Serie A were also abandoned after his agent revealed that his client was content with his current surroundings in the Primeira Liga.
"The player has a contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, as it is known, he renewed it because he is fine there, he feels fine,” the representative said.
However that didn’t deter Russian moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala from trying to strengthen their backline with the addition of the Seleccao International.
The Dagestani outfit have been launching audacious bids for the best players on the continent since Suleyman Kerimov's takeover and it seems that their latest target was Rolando, who has oozed quality alongside Nicolas Otamendi at the heart of the Dragons
defence.
According to reports, Anzhi officials were in Oporto to convene a meeting with their Portuguese counterparts, however a deal could not be struck as the Azure e Brancos demanded a transfer fee which the Dikaya Divisiya refused.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rolando-c31583 is still relatively young and is yet to reach his peak. Given his displays over the last few seasons, he is expected to blossom in to a top quality centre-back in the near future and his price tag will only go up if he ends up with a positive performance
in the European championships, after which  a major European side should sign him up even if Anzhi do not
