Interest in Porto defender Rolando has been mounting of late with Italian giants, AS Roma and Juventus, tipped frontrunners in the race. However, the player’s representative, Cardoso da Silva, has ruled out a move to Serie A.
The 25-year-old was the foundation of success for the Portistas last season and held together the backline for their unprecedented haul of silverware. His solidarity at the back and knack of scoring goals has attracted the attention of several top European
sides.
But all rumours of a transfer have been quashed by his agent, who said that his client does not wish to part ways with Porto.
"The player has a contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, as it is known, he renewed it because he is fine there, he feels fine." The agent revealed.
Cardoso da Silva also acknowledged that any potential suitor will first have to contact the club and if they see the proposal fit, only then will they even contemplate telling Rolando about a possible move.
"Any offer has to go through Porto and from that point, if Porto sees fit, they will contact us. Right now, he is at the club's pre-season training camp, I do not know anything else." Da Silva was quoted as saying.
The Selecao International has proven his mettle as a top defender in the side and is always a regular feature for the Dragons. Such have been his performances that they have reportedly enticed his former coach, Andre Villas-Boas, into make a bid for him.
The Portuguese tactician is currently in charge of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and the Londoners are running out of options at the back due to the age of their squad. A revamp is being expected at the club and the backing of the Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, means
that they also boast the financial power to acquire any target with ease.
The agent, however, was quick to point that his client is not only enjoying game time at Estadio do Dragao but is also challenging for honours at the highest level and would not enjoy transferring to Stamford Bridge, where he would fall down the pecking
order.
"He has been a starter for the last three years, that question should not even be posed. The contrary would be abnormal," he concluded.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 International, now 25, is still relatively young for a centre-back and is yet to reach his peak. His displays, though, have shown maturity beyond his years and his composure can be relied upon to get him out of tight positions.
While he can be the perfect addition to the squads of Chelsea, Juventus and Roma, it looks like he will still be donning the Dragao colours once the new season commences.
