    her input is vital, there are behaviors that a child shows at home but not observable in the school.

I think parents are essential in the evaluation, it is difficult as a parent to be objective as to specific areas of your child's behavior because we tend to attribute certain inabilities to laziness or disinterest..once you are going through the process, if you are being helped by someone who knows their stuff,  you will see patterns in your child's behavior and you will recognize whether the inabilities are due to a disability or disinterest or laziness.  Who knows a child better than a parent or a guardian?

    Parents can provide outside evaluations, report their observations, and are often enlisted to go through checklists and give histories of their children.
