  1. What do you mean ! ! !   90 percent of Mexicans are catholic.   Then,  you should say:

Role of the Mexicans during the gringo war ! ! !

USA invaded Mexico.  USA knows very well how to invade other countries.

What can we say abou it !!!

California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas are not part of Mexico any longer ! ! ! ! !

    Best to you.

By the way, you are in the travel section.

  2. Part of the cause of the Mexican American War was the concept of "manifest destiny," that is, that the US had the right and the duty to enter Mexico (among other areas) and control the land themselves.  The Americans would clearly be better governors of the territory because they were Protestant English speakers of European heritage.  So the Mexican acceptance of Catholicism helped mark them as inferior and in need of American "guidance."

At the same time, however, the Mexicans in these northern areas that the US invaded were experiencing a waning Hispanic influence.  In 1767, the Spanish crown expelled the Jesuits and auctioned off their buildings and property.  By 1846 the church’s presence on the Mexican frontier had significantly diminished.  Because at the time they were the primary purveyor of Hispanic culture, the decline of the Church also meant a decline in Hispanic identity, which in turn meant a decline in the ability of Mexico to control the area.  This made the area easier to attack.
