Rolex to work as official timekeeper of Formula 1 from 2013 season – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 has chosen the famous Swiss watch company, Rolex, as its official timekeeping partner from 2013 F1 season.
“Without question Rolex is the partner of choice for a world class sporting series like Formula 1,” said F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone. “The brand's prestige, the excellence of its watches as well as Rolex's passionate and long-standing commitment to motor sports
gives it true credibility. This partnership is something that many people interested in Formula 1 will have been waiting for and should rightly be excited about. Rolex has incredible sporting heritage and therefore Formula 1 is the right place for Rolex to
be.”
F1’s former technology partners were LG with whom F1 had signed a multi-year deal in 2008. However, different corners of the circuits used for the F1 races will now be featuring the Rolex logo instead of LG.
Rolex has stated that their relationship with the F1 community will flourish during the upcoming seasons. The new partnership will redefine the company’s support for motor racing.
The CEO of Rolex, Gian Riccardo Marini, has stated that their deal with F1 is an exciting step for the company and the reasons behind confirming this partnership are quite obvious. He said that both Rolex and F1 are symbols of superlative engineering and
modern technology which is a great attraction for the younger generation these days.
Marini added that Rolex and F1 have become popular brands all over the world in the last fifty years and now that these two aspiring brands are joining forces, there will be plenty of new opportunities to earn more success.
This is not the Swiss Brand’s first step into the world of motor sports. Rolex has been connected with many famous personalities in this particular field since the 1930s. Rolex was a partner of the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. Later on, a watch
made by Rolex specifically for racing drivers was given the name after this circuit as the Cosmograph Daytona.
Former F1 championship holder, Sir Jackie Stewart, is one of the widely known Testimonies of Rolex. He said that he has worked with Rolex for more than forty years and believes that the new partnership will definitely be successful.
