Rolf Aldag is keen to help riders in finding new contracts – Cycling News
Team HTC-Highroad is famous for its consistency to be at top world ranking position is ending its connection with the professional cycling as Bob Stapleton made the announcement of drawing an end to the team.
Team’s senior director Rolf Aldag is certain that the existing riders of the team will find their new homes for the coming season as he is using his contacts to help find players new contracts for 2012. He is confident that most of the players have already
found their new teams and remaining are in the process of signing as he said, “Many people have the luxury to have people waiting on them. So for example Tony Martin hadn’t signed yet. I think he can hold himself back for a bit from a few offers because I
don’t think he’ll have any trouble because of the offers he’ll get are just crazy.”
He further added that Tony and Marco Pinotti are amongst the top 70 cyclists and other teams should not miss the opportunity to sign such a valuable cyclist as Tony.
Aldag is the most respected directeur sportif and seemed quite concerned about the players and team personnel as he is trying to sort the new contracts for them but is not certain about his own future as he mentioned, “My wife thinks I’m totally crazy because
she thinks I should be out looking for offers for myself but I think that if the ship goes down then the captain probably shouldn’t jump first.”
Team HTC failed to attract a sponsor as team owner Bob Stapleton explained that they had to face a lot of disappointment from their sponsor HTC who could not fulfil the commitment with the team despite many promises and he still could not understand the
reason as to why it happened.
The 42-year-old added that teams have shown interest in him and has already contacted him for the same purpose. He said that he would like to stay in cycling but things will never be the same and he has to be completely sure before accepting an offer.
