I have a Eureka Boss SmartVac (4870 series) that is having problems with the roll brush. It rolls fine until it has contact with the carpet then it stops until it lift up on the vacuum a bit. I have it set on the highest carpet setting (my carpet is not that high nor that plush), I have cleaned the belt area with alcohol as well as the belt, oiled the roll brush ends (they move freely.) I changed the belt once before and it helped the problem for only a little while before the symptoms started again. Do I really need to change the belt every month on this vacuum? Surely there has to be a better solution, these belts are aprox. $6 ea. I called the company (not too helpful) and they mentioned the possibility of adjusting a tensioner. Is that something I can do myself if that is the problem? Please help; I'm very frstrated with my less than 2 yr. old vacuum.
