Question:

Roller Coasters Hurt My Stomach Really BAD!?

The thing I fear most about roller coasters is the pain i get in my stomach. I can go on other rides like at the OC even the scariest ones but i just can't get on a ride at a theme park (except Dinsey) without it feeling literally like i'm punched by a professional body builder. I been on rides that hurt my stomach but not as much as theme's. People tell me to scream to let it out but I will do it then it will go out and force me to hold it in and i will start to crunch up until i crunch up. What causes it to be so bad? Is there anything i can do because i hear people say it doesn't hurt them at all and please don't say just get it over with because that just the part I can't do.

Also would it be a good idea to get on Supreme Scream at Knott's when i'm like that?

  1. I know exactly what you mean,I get that too, probably worse than you. on california screaming at DL I could hardly breathe even when it first launched!! and then the hill absolutely killed!! and the worst part is my sister said she couldnt feel it at all.sometimes what i try to do is think that the ride is supposed to be fun, they wouldnt want to make it hurt like that. and also, dont you think the rides would be a little dull without that pain?and supreme scream I barely know what that is,but you may as well do it just once to say youve done it. Hope this helped.=)

  2. I have a degree in psychology, so please trust me when I say that you are better off avoiding rides that cause you high anxiety.  Everyone is different, and it has nothing to do with courage.  You can have many physical differences that have an impact on the ride, like a weak spine, poor depth perception, fear of heights (a normal feeling), motion sickness etc.  Then there is emotional stress, which is what it is all about.  Some people get excited with high stress and even get addicted to it.  Others find it nauseating and avoid it at all cost.

So, do what you feel comfortable with, and avoid peer pressure.  I like the Steel Force ride at Dorney because it is smooth and has one big plunge.  The Great Bear at Hershey Park is also very smooth and being suspended instead of in a car is nice.  To avoid nausea, I just close my eyes and enjoy the sensation of movement.

    I hope this helps.
