Rolling Stone has prediminately stood as a staple zine for music, and music industry, granted they have always held a certain focus on popular news and world news, do you think it was relavent to put "the hills ladies" on the cover? i read that alot of RS regulars are seriously upset, but whats your opinion?!

  1. why are they upset? I dont see the big deal....RS has a put a lot of weirdos on their cover...why not some classy ladies for a change?? they have a show on MTV and MTV is the biggest music channel in the world....

  2. I've always know Rolling Stone mag for the music info, the hills ladies what since does that make.

  3. I just got my Rolling Stone yesterday and to be honest I thought the cover was great.  It was a good picture of the girls.  Rolling Stone has been a magazine about more than just music; yes the majority of the focus is music however they have always included politics, wars, TV, Internet and such.  Look in the current issue there is a whole section on page 32 the title of the page is the Top 10 of TV, Web, Books and beyond.  The very first thing they talk about is Gossip Girl the TV show.  There is also an article on a “Madam” and of course one on Hilary and the political battle.  Every month Rolling Stone does articles on more than just music, and not every cover has been a music star…..anyone else remember the Johnny Depp cover?  There have been tons of actors represented in the magazine and while these girls are on a reality TV show that is what the culture is now!  It is the biggest hit of reality TV why not have an article on them.  I have been getting Rolling Stone for years and I can tell you I have read worse from them and seen worse on the cover so am I mad heck no I am not!  To me Rolling Stone is a magazine of culture that publishes some very provocative articles that really makes you think.  They focus on the current culture and what is going on not only in the US, but also in the world.  They have had some awesome stories in the past year about the war, the political race, actors of the time and yes even some reality TV.  It is sad to think that loyal fans of the magazine would be upset about this cover, but not some in the past.  However the cover did its job we are talking about it right.  I can tell you that I also read the article and I thought it was a great article that did expose some things not only about the show but also about reality TV in general.  I will not be canceling my subscription over this, and will keep on reading the magazine each month.
