I need one for college this semester. I will have to haul 4 large textbooks 5 days and week going up stairs, on and off curbs, and on unpaved road. Wheels on all the rollies I get from the store last two months at most. Also, the back tends to get scuffed and/or torn. I need a rollie hardy enough to withstand all that. I'm looking on-line at the following:

Transworld (don't know model)

BAKADOG model (don't know brand. Scotty like dog print)

KIVA "Rolling Scholar" Convertible backpack/Rolling Upright Bag

L.L. Bean original rolling backpack

Olympia Model#: RP-1006

Please Help!!!!

  1. May I suggest another brand?  I've had an Eagle Creek lattitude bag for EVER and I have put this thing through h**l.  It looks like a regular rolly carry-on, but the back part un-velcros and voila!  BackPack Straps!

The have a new model now called the SwitchBack.

It might cost a little more, but it is well worth the price.  They have a lifetime warranty, no matter what happens to it -- they will fix it.  I love my EC luggage!

  2. Of those I would choose the L. L. Bean.  They have a very good reputation.  You might want to check Eddie Bauer and Mountain Equipment as well.  They might have something that would work.
