Roma and Chelsea looking to sign FC Porto's Brazilian midfielder Fernando – Liga Sagres News
Chelsea and Roma are believed to contemplating bids for FC Porto’s Brazilian midfielder, Fernando, who could be out of his way from Estadio da Luz after receiving lesser game time last season.
The Selecao U-20 International was signed from Vila Nova in 2007 and played a key part in the debut season for the Portistas. However, since the emergence of stars like Fredy Guarin and Joao Moutinho in the last campaign, he has been limited to fewer appearances,
which has allegedly angered the player and now he wants to part ways with the club.
English giants Chelsea have stepped up their interest in signing the 24-year-old, partly because of their new manager Andre Villas-Boas and the age of long-serving playmaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097. Villas-Boas recently joined the London outfit from Porto and has
been plotting to raid his old club for some time now, with players like Fernando and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 high on his list.
Three Lions International, Lampard, has been a faithful servant for the club over the years but has reached the twilight of his career and could be putting up his boots in the near future, making the search for his replacement even more urgent.
However, the Blues will have to contend with Italian side Roma for the signature of the former Estrela Amadora man.
The Romans have seen their star player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 being linked with a move to Manchester United and are keen to replace the outgoing World Cup winner with Fernando.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 could also cash in on the talented Brazilian as they already have a bulging squad and could possibly cut down the wage bill with his departure. Current manager Vitor Pereira made his intention of selling Fernando clear after he omitted him from
the team that won the Portuguese Super Cup against Vitoria Guimaraes.
While the player looks certain to exit the Dragao in the upcoming weeks, his transfer fee has still not been announced by his current employers.
Although not featuring on many games last season, Fernando’s value still remains high and he could be the subject of a bidding war between the two European giants Chelsea and Roma, who are both eager to bridge the differences in them and the rest of their
league rivals.
