http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Arne-Riise-c18833 hints at Anfield return
John Arne Riise, the former Liverpool left-back, revealed he could be making a return to the English Premier League side as the end of his contract with current Serie A side Roma approaches. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 international currently has just one year left on his
contract which indicates he could be heading out.
The 30-year-old has strongly been linked with a move back to Anfield, where he spent seven years of his career, from 2002 to 2008. During his time at the club he went on to make 339 appearances in all competitions and scored 30 goals.
Riise, who arrived at Liverpool from French outfit Monaco in the summer of 2001 for a fee of £4 million, revealed he was flattered by the interest from his former side. The Roma defender admitted he would consider making a move back.
Riise said while speaking to reporters, “I am flattered by reports linking me with a return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Liverpool are close to my heart. They are a great club and I have some good memories. I have a contract here until June 2012, so you never know.”
However, the Norwegian defender also said he could be making a return to the Ligue 1 instead of the English Premier League, having previously played in Monaco. Riise continued, “I love France as well. I played in Monaco and also enjoyed my time there.”
Maxi Rodriguez happy at Anfield
Maxi Rodriguez, the 30-year-old Argentinean winger, insisted he did not want to leave Anfield at the end of the season. There has been speculation linking the former Atletico Madrid player with a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 exit in the summer, but he denied all such rumors.
Even though he failed to make an impact when he arrived at the club in the January transfer window of 2010, Rodriguez has improved under new manager Kenny Dalglish. His new positioning has allowed him to flourish and help the Reds regain their lost form.
While he admitted he would love to play Champions League football next season, Rodriguez said he would not mind making it to the second tier European competition once again. Liverpool are currently fighting for a spot in the top five of the English Premier
League.
Rodriguez said while speaking to reporters, “Obviously it is everyone's dream to play in the Champions League. Not just for the players, but for the club. That is where Liverpool want to be and deserve to be. But at the moment that is maybe not realistic
so getting in the Europa League is our target.”
