Roma skipper Francesco Totti admits he wishes former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to coach the Serie A side
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Carlo Ancelotti take over the coaching job at the Serie A club.
Roma boss Claudio Ranieri was relieved of his duties in mid-season, after which Vincenzo Montella was brought in as a stand-in manager for the remainder of the season.
Since then Roma have been making not so subtle hints to Ancelotti to take over the manager’s job at the club.
Roma skipper Totti revealed his desire to play under Ancelotti, saying he wished for the 51-year-old manager to take the job before the forward decided to retire.
Totti said while speaking to reporters,
“The new company? Let's look this week.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Walter-c36580) Sabatini will be in Trigoria and will tell us something. We hope they make a great team.
Ancelotti to Roma? Let's hope. He always said he wanted to coach Roma and sooner or later it will happen. I hope to still be there when he arrives.”
Ancelotti has previously expressed his wish to return to Roma, having played at the club for over eight years, 1979-1987.
He did not however mention when he intended to return to his former club, with whom he won one Serie A title and four Coppa Italia trophies during his time as a player.
Ancelotti refused to comment on his availability for the Roma http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 since he was contracted to the Blues during the time of the speculation.
However, he was sacked a few days ago, right after the 1-0 loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 in the last English Premier League fixture of the season.
This means he is available and could very well be taking up the job at Roma.
For that to happen though, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 will have to convince the Italian manager to leave England. The 51-year-old made it very clear he wished to remain in England.
Having immensely enjoyed his time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, Ancelotti revealed he wished to coach an English Premier League side.
Ancelotti was sacked at the end of a highly disappointing season, with the Blues finishing second place on the Premier League table without any silverware.
The fact that he led Chelsea to their first ever domestic double in his first ever season with the London club was overlooked.
According to Totti, Ancelotti was the perfect manager if Roma wished to make a big impact in a short amount of time.
Roma finished sixth place in the Serie A table this season and reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. They are confident they can expect to do better and secure silverware with the arrival of a manager like Ancelotti.
