Roma vs. Lazio – Italian Serie A Review (Part 1)

Lazio were brought down to nine men after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-Ledesma-c9543 were shown red cards by the referee, P. Tagliavento.
Francesco Totti scored from a free-kick and then from a penalty to give his side a 2-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico.
Francesco Totti was undoubtedly the man of the match as the Roman derby took place in the Italian Serie A.
The Italian striker’s brace was enough to give his side all three points. With these three important points, Roma are sixth – two points behind fifth placed, Lazio, their opponents over the weekend.
None of the two goals scored by the 34-year-old Italian striker came from open play. The first goal came from a free kick was won by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Muslera-c13690.
Later, Roma won a penalty and Totti stood over to take it. The Italian found the back of the net yet again.
While Lazio were suffering a loss against their local city rivals, they were frustrated and the anger did come out towards the end of the game.
Stefano Radu and Cristian Ledesma were both shown red cards because of improper conduct on the pitch.
As the game kicked off at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma took advantage of the early possession. Within the first five minutes, the home team had a chance to score the first goal of the game.
Francesco Totti avoided the offside trap and played a wonderful one-two with David Pizarro. Pizarro got ample space outside the 18 yard box and decided to take his shot on goal. The shot easily managed to beat the Lazio goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera, but
could not find the back of the net and instead struck the cross bar.
Pizarro really got the crowd on its feet but the home team had to hold their heads in shock as the ball never really found the back of the net.
With only five minutes left in the first half, Roma again had the chance to score. It was Francesco Totti yet again who troubled the Lazio defensive lines.
Totti easily avoided the offside trap and gave an inch perfect pass to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345.
Menez decided to give a cut-back pass to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-c19640. The ball was about to reach the Roma star but Cristian Ledesma managed to reach it first and cleared it to give his side a life line.
There was not much action throughout the first half of the game. Both sides were trying not to concede in the big derby game.
With the first half ending, Roma proved to be the better side.
Vincenzo Montella’s men kept good possession of the ball throughout the first half and also took their shots on goal.
On the other hand, Lazio were struggling while being away from home. The crowd was making their life miserable and they could barely make their chances count.
