Romain Feillu wins final stage in 2011 Circuit de Lorraine Professional: Cycling News
Vacansoleil team’s Romain Feillu won the fifth and final sprint victory after beating the race leader Anthony Roux in a bunch sprint of the 2011 Circuit de Lorraine Professional on Sunday, May 22. FDJ team’s Roux maintained his overall leader’s yellow jersey
in the race.
The race started in Metz and ended at Hayange. The 27-year-old, Romain took a total 3 hours, 26 minutes and 21 seconds to cover the distance of 149.5 kilometres.
The stage one and fourth winner Roux was in second place with the same timing of Anthony. Sebastien Chavanel of the Europcar team also showed his good performance, but he grabbed the third spot in the race.
His team-mate Marco Marcato, Romain Hardy (Bretagne Schuller) and Sebastien Hinault (AG2R) were in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Johan Mombaerts also tried his best to catch the 30 cyclists, but he failed and grabbed 33th place with a difference of 13 seconds behind Romain.
With 110 kilometres to go, a group of six riders made their break-away, including Yukiya Arashiro of Europcar, Matthieu Sprick of Skil-Shimano, Dan Craven of Rapha Condor, Oleg Chuzhda of Caja Rural, Pieter Serry of Topsport Vlaanderen and Andrey Amador
of Movistar.
All of them were caught by the peloton before the finish line. Three cyclists, Anthony Roux, Sebastien Chavanel and Marco Marcato were took lead ahead of the other riders. But Romain had good legs and he was in good form with the help of his team-mate Marco
he cross the finish line without any difficulty.
Recently, Romain won the second, third and fourth stage Tour Mediterraneen and he also won Tour du Finistere. He was in overall first place in Tour de Picardie last Sunday.  
Anthony Roux maintained his overall classification with the timing of 20 hours, 17 minutes and 5 seconds. The third stage winner Thomas De Gendt of Vacansoleil was second place behind Anthony.
Julien Simon of Saur Sojasun finished third with the difference of 5 seconds. The stage winner’s Feillu was in 65th place with 17 minute and 43 seconds.
Roux was also leading in the point’s classification while Thomas De Gendt won the Moutain Classification. Geox TMC team’s Fabio Felline won the title of young rider classification.
