Romain Grosjean: We are working in a good direction – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean is feeling confident for 2012 Monaco Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27 as he believes that they are working in a good direction.
Grosjean set the second best time of 1 minute and 16.138 seconds during the second free practice session on Thursday. Even though, he could not be able to do long runs in FP2 as the rain hit the track during the afternoon. Nevertheless, he said that they
have a car which is competent enough for the track of the race ahead.
Furthermore, he expressed that they are looking forward to perform well in the approaching race while he said that they are prepared for both wet and dry conditions.
“I think the car is suiting the track pretty well and I love Monaco, it's good to be here and it's nice to see so many fans,” he said. “The car was looking good this morning and this afternoon - we are working in a good direction. Unfortunately it was a
bit wet this afternoon and we couldn't do all programme we wanted to but as we have a good baseline it shouldn't be such a big deal. Let's see what weather will be like and what we can achieve. I think that we are looking good in both conditions.”
In addition, he said that he could not get a chance to run the car on supersoft in FP2. However, he said that he is hoping to use the supersoft compound in P3 on Saturday in order to assess the performance of the car.
The French driver is presently standing at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 35 points. Although, he could not be able to score even a single point in the first two races as he was retired.
However, he performed quite convincingly in the last three races out of which he secured an impressive third podium finish in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir after following his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
Over and above, he is aiming to perform at his best in the upcoming races so as to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship.
