Romain Grosjean aims to fight back in 2012 United States Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has said that he is aiming to fight back in the 2012 United States Grand Prix which is going to be held at Circuit of The Americas this weekend.
Grosjean could not score any point in the Abu Dhabi GP held at Yas Marina Circuit as he was unfortunately retired because of his collision with Sergio Perez of Sauber.
However, he said that he is not feeling upset over his retirement in the preceding race as his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen performed incredibly well and finally claimed his first victory of the ongoing season.
Moreover, he said that he could have scored reasonable points for his team in the last race, if he hadn’t collided with Perez.
“For me it wasn't one of the best days, but for the team it was a fantastic day with the win for Kimi,” Grosjean said. “I was running pretty well and could have finished with good points too.”
Nevertheless, he said that he is extremely happy for his team and praised the performance of the Finnish driver.
“It was unbelievable for the team. It had looked as if the chance of a win was escaping from us, but we've kept pushing and the top step was a fantastic reward. Kimi did a fantastic job. The car is there and although this race wasn't the one we were expecting
to win, we did,” he said.
In addition, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the final two races and is targeting to secure competitive results for his team.
“Hopefully the good results continue, starting in Austin,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the French driver has faced a lot of criticism and penalties because of his hostile driving style due to which many accidents have been caused in the season until now.
At present, he is standing at 9th place in the drivers’ championship. Besides, he is ahead of Perez and is behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Let’s see how the Frenchman performs in the final two grands prix of the current season.
