Romain Grosjean believes E21 is stronger in wet conditions – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean believes that E21 is stronger in the wet conditions as compared to their last year’s car after completing his final day testing of the second pre-season test in Barcelona.
Grosjean seemed very comfortable behind the wheel of his car on the last day of the final test at Circuit de Catalunya and said that he successfully managed to gather some valuable data which can be used by the team to make further advancements.
In addition, he said that he faced many difficulties with E20 during the preceding season in wet conditions. But, he expressed satisfaction after driving this year’s car on the rain-hit track.
“Last year it's not a secret that we were really struggling in the wet,” Grosjean said. “Today we have been trying to work on it and trying to understand and it seems to be better. At least we've done some laps in the wet, which I hadn't done last year;
I spun very early in the race in Malaysia and then we had only two qualifying I think in the wet so it wasn't much. So that was good and I think the baseline seems to be reasonable.”
However, he said that they cannot take any kind of rest as there is still plenty of room left for improvement.
“Still some work to do, to be honest, but it seems to be working better,” he added.
It is to be noted that the Frenchman faced immense criticism over his harsh driving style during the last season because of which many accidents happened.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has shown full support for Grosjean and has asserted that their driver has learnt a lot from his mistakes. Besides, Boullier has said that the 26-year-old has started this season with great confidence
and will hopefully attain competitive results on consistent basis for his team in this year’s championship.
The Enstone based squad are looking forward to come up stronger right from the start of the season. It will be thrilling to see how they compete with their major rivals in this year.
