Romain Grosjean believes Lotus need time to achieve perfection – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean believes that they have not been able to claim victory in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far because of new driver line-up and insisted that they need time to achieve perfection in their performance.
Grosjean and his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen joined the Enstone based team after replacing Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov in the current season.
Although, they have performed quite convincingly in the season until now and has secured some incredible podium finishes.
However, they are yet to win a race and the French driver thinks that the teams which have won races so far have well settled pair of drivers while he said that they need time to catch them up and to adapt to the changes in order to attain precision in their
performance.
“You need some luck, it's true, but there are teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, who have been working with their drivers for three, four, five years,” Grosjean said. “They really know each other, they have data from the previous years, they
know when they go on the racetrack where they want to start. Our two drivers, we are new with the team, so sometimes when we start the race weekend we take data from the previous year, but it's not you who was in the car so you need a little bit of time to
adapt.”
Furthermore, he said that if they perform well during this season, they will be able to gather some essential information which can prove out to be fruitful for the next year.
At present, he is standing at 7th place in the drivers’ rankings with 61 points. Besides, he is ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and is behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
On the other hand, Raikkonen is at 5th position in the drivers’ championship with 83 points and is following Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
Meanwhile, the British team is at third place in the constructors’ championship with 144 points. Moreover, they are just 2 points ahead of McLaren and are 8 points behind Ferrari.
Over and above, they are undoubtedly one of the most competent contenders in this year’s championship fight and it will be exciting to see how they come up in the forthcoming races.
