Romain Grosjean believes ten-place grid penalty for the Canadian GP is quite harsh – Formula 1 News
Lotus driver, Romain Grosjean, has said that the ten-place grid penalty is quite harsh. He will face the sentence in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix because of his collision with Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso
in Monaco.
Grosjean crashed into Ricciardo from behind at Circuit de Monaco due to which both the drivers had to retire. The race stewards held the Frenchman responsible for the accident and he received a ten-place
grid penalty for the forthcoming race because of his harsh driving style.
The 27-year-old has said that they had a very competent car in the preceding race and they could have achieved a lot more but unfortunately, he failed to score even single point because of his crash with
the Australian driver. In addition, he stated that his ten-place grid penalty for the approaching race is quite inconsiderate. Nevertheless, he said that they are positively looking forward to develop the best strategy to make the most out of their car at
the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
“It was certainly a rollercoaster, and one where we could have achieved a lot more with the pace of the car,” Grosjean said.
“No-one wants to make contact with the barriers at Monaco and it's a fine balance between going fast and going too fast; there's such a tiny margin for error as I found out,” he said.
“I got caught out behind Daniel and will have to suffer quite a harsh penalty of ten places on the Montreal grid, but we'll be working hard to devise the best strategy to work back up the order,” he added.
At present, the French driver is standing at 9th place in the drivers’ championship with 26 points. Besides, he is ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and behind Paul di Resta of Force
India. He impressed everyone with his amazing performance in the Bahrain GP in which he secured third podium finish after qualifying for 11th grid slot. However, he has faced retirements in the last two races because of which he lost
some crucial points in the championship. Let’s see how he performs in the next race.
