Romain Grosjean believes the team has not delivered to its potential – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean says he and Lotus are not satisfied with their performance so far in the season.
Lotus have shown great promise and potential in the current season and were tipped to be a strong force in the season but neither Lotus or the gurus of the sport thought that the team will turn out to be outright contenders of the Constructors’ Championship.
The season so far has been very tightly fought with five races gone down each race has seen a different winner from a different team. The situation has made a lot of team to remain in contention for the title. Yet Lotus are clearly in the top three favourites
as the team has scored two back to back podiums in the last two races.
Kimi Raikkonen was disappointed after both races at not being able to finish victorious in the races. Raikkonen and Grosjean ended the Bahrain Grand Prix placed second and third respectively while at the Spanish GP Raikkonen was third and Grosjean fourth.
Recently Lotus team principal Eric Boullier said that he has warned his team to not be complacent and let recent success derail them from the job at hand. Boullier admitted that the initial plans were to finish at least fourth in the constructors’ a goal
he added that will be re-evaluated now that the team is placed strongly in the standings.
“I think we can be quite happy with the result [in Spain]. Not satisfied, but happy,” he said. “Both cars in the top four is good for the team and good for the championship. It's good for me as well to finish another race, and to gain some more experience
at the front of the field. We have also shown ourselves to be one of the most consistent teams in the paddock, which is a very good strength. We can still improve our car and that's what everyone is working hard for.”
Lotus will have to perform strongly at Monaco to have a strong impact on the standings of the current season. It will be interesting to see how the Lotus duo tackle the Monaco circuit to come up with the desired results.
