Romain Grosjean confesses to being his own enemy this season – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean of the Lotus F1 team has admitted that he has been his own worst enemy taking responsibility for the issues he faced this season.
Grosjean has been dealing with a lot of criticism and pressure this season. He has been involved in six first lap incidents including a huge crash in Belgium. He was responsible for ending the race of many drivers in the first lap and the most recent crash
had occurred when he ran into Mark Webber of the Red Bull Racing team. Webber had been frustrated enough to call Grosjean a ‘nut case’.
Grosjean has been really worried about these incidents and admitted that he had been under pressure ahead of the Korean Grand Prix. He said that he had been working to avoid them and was true to his word when he was able to finish seventh in Korea without
causing any trouble.
“Myself and the team did a lot of work trying to understand a few things and it's certainly helped,” said Grosjean. “It wasn't the easiest start; there was contact behind me at turn three and I took evasive action but after that it was quite a straight forward
race and I could push how I wanted. I've been my own worst enemy at times this season, but hopefully now we can put it behind us and move forwards.”
Eric Boullier, who is the team boss for Lotus, has also encouraged the driver to put this behind him and move on. In a recent interview he has stated that it is time for everyone to draw a line under this issue and especially for Grosjean himself. He is
pleased with the way he came through clean in Korea. He is confident that the driver has learnt his lesson and now knows what to avoid in the future. He insisted that the target is clear for rest of the season and they need a similar performance in the last
four races.
Grosjean is excited to compete in the Indian Grand Prix this weekend. He said that last time he had been the third driver and it had been amazing. He is looking forward to drive on a great track.
