Romain Grosjean confirmed by Lotus F1 for 2013 F1 season – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean, who has just won the Race of Champions (ROC) individual event, has been confirmed by Lotus F1 to partner Kimi Raikkonen again during the 2013 F1 season.
“It’s fantastic for me to be continuing with Lotus F1 Team for 2013,” said Grosjean. “It’s superb to have the support of everyone at Enstone. I’m really looking forward to rewarding their faith when we take to the track in Australia.”
The 2012 F1 season was Grosjean’s first full year in F1 from which he admits that he has learnt a lot.
He added, “I learnt a lot in my first full season in Formula 1 and my aim is to put these lessons into practice with stronger and more consistent performance on track next year.”
The French driver told that many interesting things are happening at the factory in Enstone and he is very excited about the development of the 2013 car. He said that he has already been there for his seat fitting and has spoken to the people involved with
the development of the car. He confessed that he cannot wait to get behind the wheel for the upcoming season.
Team principal, Eric Boullier, has also expressed his optimism for 2013. He said that Grosjean is a talented driver and the team is glad to have him back for the next season. He admitted that with both the talents of Grosjean and Raikkonen, they can continue
to build on their strong performance in the 2012 F1 season.
Boullier added that both drivers have turned out to be good teammates and the team has potential to improve more next year. He said that they secured several podium finishes this year and they can certainly continue that into the next season.
Even though Grosjean was involved in plenty of first lap incidents throughout the season, he was also successful in securing three podium finishes. While it was Grosjean’s first year in F1, Raikkonen had returned to the sport after two years and that as
well with a consistent performance.
The race points scored by both drivers, especially Raikkonen’s third place in the drivers’ championship, helped the team finish fourth in the constructors’ championship.
