Romain Grosjean feels confident for 2012 Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean says that he is feeling confident for 2012 Spanish Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on May 13.
The French driver is presently standing at 8th position in the drivers’ championship with 23 points, following his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
Furthermore, he said that they should keep on making the necessary developments and the significant preparations so as to enhance the pace of the car for the season ahead. He added that the last two grands prix have proven out to be very good for them. He
also said that he will make the best of the efforts in the approaching races to improve his ranking in the championship.
“We still need to build step by step. The two last races have been really good, both for the team and for myself. I will give my best in Barcelona and the goal for the next races is to get as far up the driver standings as I can,” he said.
Additionally, he said that he has only participated in four races until now which is just a handful of an experience in the sport. Therefore, he expressed that he still needs to learn many things.
Nevertheless, he said that he has learnt a lot in the season so far. Moreover, he asserted that he feels positive for the next GP after securing third podium finish in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
“I still have a lot of things to learn, I've only completed four Grand Prix as a full time driver for the season. It's not too much experience but every Grand Prix I finish is a fantastic experience for me. For sure the podium in Bahrain gives me confidence
for Barcelona,” said Grosjean.
Lotus team has appeared as one of the most competitive contenders in this season and is currently at third place in the constructors’ standings with 57 points. Besides, they are 12 points ahead of Scuderia-Ferrari.
It will be interesting to mention that during the start of the season, Eric Boullier, the team principal of Lotus said that they should not be deemed as the second class team anymore as they have all what it takes to be the world champion.
