Romain Grosjean feels positive for 2012 Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has said that he is feeling confident for 2012 Spanish Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on May 13.
The French driver said that their car E20 is set to show its pace in the next race while he said that he need to perform well on the weekend in order to make his position stronger to claim victory.
“We've seen in the race that the car is not bad everywhere,” he said. “For sure I think we are better in fast corners than what we thought in the beginning but here, why not? Barcelona is a good circuit, we were not too bad in winter testing, even if it's very different to the race. I think our car is giving us confidence and that it work well and we can get the best of everything.”
He is at 8th place in the drivers’ championship in the season so far with 23 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari by just one point and is following his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen who is 11 points ahead of him.
It will be important to mention that he secured an impressive third podium finish in the last race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir after starting from 7th place in the grid.
In addition, he said that they need to bring out the best in them so as to improve their overall performance in order to win a race in this season as the competition is very tough and every contender seems to be well prepared. He added that it is very difficult to make any kind of projections about who will stand on the podiums in the upcoming race.
“It's so tight that it's very difficult to predict who will be on the podium on Sunday,” he said.
Lotus have emerged as one of the most competent and consistent teams in this season as they are standing at third place in the constructors’ championship with 57 points and are ahead of Ferrari. Over and above, they are they are making the significant developments and the necessary preparations to fight for a competitive finish in 2012 F1 Championship.
