Romain Grosjean feels positive for qualifying despite struggling in Friday practice – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean is feeling positive for the qualifying of the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix as he believes that they will find the solutions of the problems which they faced during the free Friday practice.
Grosjean and his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen struggled during the first two practice sessions at Marina Bay Street Circuit as their cars lacked downforce.
Although, the Frenchman said that they were encountered with some serious issues which hindered their performance in the practice. Nevertheless, he confidently said that they are trying their best to resolve the ongoing issues in their car so as to make
the essential improvement in their pace to come up stronger in the third practice session and the qualifying.
“First off it's good,” Grosjean said. “We have been working quite hard to improve ourselves. Clearly the performance is not what we wanted at the moment we are far down timesheets but never mind, we know what is wrong today. When you are two seconds off
pace you know it must be something out on tyres so we will work on it, improve ourselves and try to find some solutions for tomorrow.”
In addition, he said that they have not made any major changes in their car while he said that he is very pleased with the overall progress which the team has made in the season so far.
“The car is more or less same as Monaco or Budapest where we were very competitive so there is no reason that aero package we have suddenly doesn't work,” he added.
Besides, he said that the competition is extremely tough and they need to keep on striving at their best in order to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship fight.
Over and above, after facing one-race suspension penalty, he said that he is targeting to score some reasonable points in the race ahead.
It will be important to note that the Enstone based team has introduced new rear DRS wing in the Singapore GP while they have planned to launch their novel double-DRS in the Japanese GP.
Let’s see how they perform in the night race at one of the most challenging circuits of the current season.
