Romain Grosjean says hard work can bring victory for Lotus – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has said that if they keep on working hard to improve the pace of E20, they can claim victory in 2012 Formula 1 season.
At present, Lotus are at third place in the constructors’ championship with 57 points ahead of Scuderia-Ferrari which is quite an achievement for the team in the season so far.
Furthermore, in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Grosjean secured an incredible third podium finish after following his teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Moreover, the French driver expressed that their car E20 is capable enough to
fight for this year’s title.
“It was a good result and we were all happy to finish second and third. It was the first podium for myself and it was a very good result, which gives me the confidence to get some more in the future,” said Grosjean.
He added that they had quite reliable pre-season testing programme this year and said, “Winter testing showed us the car was very good.”
In addition, he said that they need to keep on making the essential advancements and significant preparations for the season ahead in order to enhance the performance of the car so as to make themselves able to fight for the championship title.
“We knew we had something in our hands that worked very well, so now we are working hard to make it better in the next races - and if we put everything right then we may win before the end of the season,” he said.
It will be important to mention that Grosjean performed convincingly in the season opener and secured third place in the grid, however, he was retired in the race and could not score even a single point.
Even though, he retired in the second race too, nevertheless, he made a reasonable comeback in the third race and secured sixth place finish after starting from tenth grid position.
Lotus have been considered as one of the most competitive contenders for this season’s title. Additionally, the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has also asserted that they should not be deemed as the second class team anymore as they have got what
it takes to be the world champion.
