Romain Grosjean says he is not expecting favours – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean’s race seat for the 2013 Formula 1 season has not been confirmed yet and he has expressed that he is not expecting any kind of favours from his team.
Grosjean has been considered as one of the most talented new comers in the sport. He returned to F1 with the Enstone based team in this season and delivered some remarkable performances in few races.
However, he struggled in most of the grands prix in this season and failed to attain competitive results for his team. In addition, he faced immense criticism over his poor driving style due to which many accidents happened during the season and became the
cause of retirements of quite a few drivers.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen has performed tremendously well in this season and has secured third position in the drivers’ championship.
Furthermore, the Finnish driver stood amongst one of the most competent title contenders and received a lot of appreciation.
Additionally, the 2007 world champion has successfully secured his race seat with the British team for the next season. Conversely, the Frenchman’s future in the team is still uncertain and he thinks that there is no room for emotions in F1 as there is a
tough competition for the race seats in competent teams.
“There is no room for mercy,” Grosjean told Switzerland's Le Matin newspaper, "but that's normal for the top level. Seats in F1 are scarce; there are no presents."
Nonetheless, he said that he has learnt a lot during his stay in Lotus and is satisfied with his overall performance in this season.
"I learned a lot - more than I thought I would,” he insisted, “But the world of F1 is more difficult than I imagined. When I returned, I saw that there was a mountain to climb – and, once I started to climb, I saw how high it really is."
It will be important to note that the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has shown support for the French driver and it is expected that he will drive alongside Raikkonen in the next season.
