Romain Grosjean surprised by front row qualification at Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 newsGrosjean is surprised by his front row finish at the qualifying of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Lotus driver has been showing good promise throughout the season with consistent performances and two podium finishes. The young driver has shown maturity and calibre to challenge the front-runners of this season. This is one of the best opportunities he has achieved all season to go for the win on the race day.Lotus principal Eric Boullier has already admitted that the team had not though that they will be doing so well in the season and have reassessed their goals looking at the success. The biggest one of them will be to win a Grand Prix race.Grosjean had already said prior to the race weekend that the car is very well suited to the Hungarian track and conditions. His second place finish will give him a good chance to grab that elusive win the team has been looking for all season.Grosjean’s teammate Kimi Raikkonen has also been able to finish in the top five and considering the Lotus car is well suited to Hungaroring it is not farfetched to see both cars finish with podiums on race day.Grosjean was able to pi Sebastian Vettel with his final flying lap of the qualifying and that will give him good confidence for Sunday knowing that he can be faster than the defending champion.Grosjean though admitted that he had not expected to be starting up so high despite Lotus remaining to be one of the competitive teams of the season.“Qualifying was very tight and it was difficult to see where we would end up so on the front row is fantastic,” Grosjean said. “We came here after a difficult weekend at Hockenheim and to be honest I didn't get off to the best start yesterday. We worked hard to improve things overnight and the car felt much better in practice this morning. I'm very happy and just a little bit surprised to be P2 on the grid.”Grosjean added that he thinks the race will be very interesting on Sunday.
