Romain Grosjean targets victory in the forthcoming races – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean is aiming for victory in the forthcoming races after showing an impressive performance in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Grosjean secured a striking second podium finish in the last race after setting off from 7th place in the grid. Moreover, he showed an exceptional pace during the ending laps in which he overtook the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and the defending
champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
The French driver has said that they are competent enough to achieve victory in the forthcoming season. However, he thinks that they need to improve their qualifying performance in order to secure competitive grid positions in the approaching races to attain
better results.
Nevertheless, he said that they have been making efforts to make the essential arrangements so as to enhance their qualifying pace in the upcoming races. He also said that they have gathered some valuable information about E20 during the last few grands
prix which will certainly help in making necessary advancements.
“We have to go into every weekend aiming for a win; approaching a race in any other way is like putting yourself on back foot from start,” he said. “It's great to be fighting at front and that's always what we want to do, but we're in a tight battle this
season so of course most important thing is to score good points for team. If we have a strong weekend from start then I think we are capable of fighting for podium or even win. We'll see after qualifying where we are; hopefully we can get another good result!”
Presently, he is at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 53 points. In addition, he is 8 points ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and just 2 points behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
Although, he has retired in three out of first seven races, nonetheless, he has delivered some stimulating performances in the season so far.
Above and beyond, he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the European GP which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
