Romain Grosjean tests for Lotus Renault GP at Valencia to get Formula 1 experience – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s reserve driver Romain Grosjean recently completed a 600km-long test at Valencia using an R29 for the team in order to have some Formula 1 car experience.
According to the team, Grosjean has not driven an F1 car for a long time.
“It is always fantastic to get back in an F1 car. The aim of the drive was to get me used to drive an F1 car again. We did some qualifying running in the morning and some long running in the afternoon. We also did some pit stop practices. It was very good
for the fitness; I was very pleased and I did enjoy working with the team a lot,” said Grosjean.
The team has been making statements regarding its drivers’ line-up for the 2012 Formula 1 season and it seems that they are still confused about their options. Robert Kubica’s return to the sport is still uncertain and Bruno Senna’s future depends on his
performance with the team for the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Romain Grosjean and some other options are also open to the team as they are hoping for a major performance and statistical boost in 2012. In order to achieve that, they would need the best of drivers in the team.
Grosjean recently secured the GP2 championship as well and since he has been a part of the team in the past as well, it seems that the team is considering him as a potential full season driver for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
“It felt different compared to 2009 because I am more experienced now. I enjoyed the car from the moment I jumped in and I enjoyed working with the engineers,” he added.
One has to admit that signing an in-form driver is always the best option as that driver sets his goals very high and strives to achieve them more than the rest of the drivers.
Since Grosjean became the champion this year for GP2, he might produce some pretty good results in Formula 1 as well.
