Romain Grosjean thanks Lotus F1 for 2013 contract extension – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean, who has just been confirmed by Lotus F1 for the 2013 F1 season, has expressed his gratitude to his team by sending them a personal email.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to express personally just how happy I am to be staying with the team for the 2013 season,” Grosjean wrote in his email, a copy of which has been seen by Autosport. “The support of the team and everyone at Enstone is phenomenal;
and I would like to thank you for being behind me. I've always said that Enstone feels like my home, and the team is like a family, and I am incredibly happy to be here.”
The French driver added in his email that he thinks the team is developing and strengthening; that the team will be having a much better season in 2013 and he is very eager to get behind the wheel again. He told that he has seen the amount of hard work being
put into developing the car and is sure it will be strong enough to challenge rivals in every race next year. He told that he is hoping for a better, stronger and more successful future with Lotus F1.
Grosjean’s future with the team had been uncertain and the driver admitted that he had been really worried about losing his seat with the team.
Team principal, Eric Boullier, said that he is glad Grosjean will be continuing in the next season. He said that both Grosjean and his teammate Kimi Raikkonen have worked well together and with this combination, they can certainly expect better results in
the future.
Grosjean secured three podium finishes for Lotus F1 this past season but was also part of several first lap incidents. The driver has admitted that the team’s main expectation from him is to complete races in the coming season and reason for past mistakes
has been wrong objectives.
Lotus F1 had a strong 2012 F1 season which was immensely helped by Raikkonen’s very consistent season and third place in the drivers’ championship. The team finished fourth on the constructors’ grid.
