Romain Grosjean thinks Lotus will be more competitive in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean believes that they will surely be more competitive in the 2013 Formula 1 season after performing incredibly well in 2012.
The Enstone based squad secured 4th place finish in this year’s constructors’ championship with 303 points. Furthermore, they remained ahead of Mercedes and behind their main rival, McLaren.
Grosjean impressed everyone with his amazing performance during the start of the season. However, he could not score points with consistency and was surrounded by a lot of criticism over his rough driving style due to which many accidents happened.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen performed tremendously well for his team throughout the year and attained competitive results with inspiring consistency.
The Finnish driver also took an incredible victory at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and managed to secure third position in the drivers’ championship. Besides, he stood ahead of his main opponent, Lewis Hamilton and behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
The Frenchman has recently got a one-year contract extension with Lotus and is positively looking forward to perform well in the coming year. In addition, he said that they have got the potential to come up even stronger in the next season.
“We will try to improve on fourth, that's for sure,” Grosjean told AUTOSPORT. “If we do everything right, there is no reason why we can't do better than that.”
Additionally, he said that there will be no dramatic changes in the rules and regulations by FIA in 2013. Therefore, they are targeting to build on their 2012 car, which was very competent in the field, for the next season.
“The car was good this year, the regulations are not changing a lot, the team is working hard and I'm really looking forward to seeing the car and to see what it can deliver,” he said.
He also said that their target is to attain better results in the coming year for which they will try their best.
“The objective will be to do better and better year after year, starting in 2013,” he added.
Let’s see how the British team performs in the coming year.
