Romain Grosjean thinks he will be stronger in 2013 if he secures race seat in Lotus – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean has said that he will be stronger in the 2013 Formula 1 season, if he succeeds in securing his race seat in Lotus.
Grosjean performed convincingly well in few races this year. However, he struggled with his pace in most of the grands prix and failed to score competitive points for his team.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen performed tremendously well throughout the season and scored good points for his team.
Moreover, he claimed his first race win after his comeback at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and secured third position in the drivers’ championship behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Besides, the Finnish driver has successfully secured his race seat in the Enstone based team for the next season.
Conversely, the French driver’s future in the team is still uncertain. Nonetheless, he is not feeling upset and has said that he will surely come up stronger in the coming year, if he will be able to extend his contract with the British squad.
“I hope much stronger,” Grosjean said. “Normally it is one year to learning, two years to win, but in F1 it is a bit different.”
Furthermore, he said that he is looking forward to the winter testing so as to improve his driving for the next year.
“It's hard to say how much stronger you normally are because all these things you digest over the winter, and restart with winter testing... we know where to start, what to test, what to improve,” he said.
In addition, he said that he has learnt a lot about the sport during his stay in Lotus this year which has really helped him in improving his driving skills.
“There are ups and downs, but I think this year has been mainly 10,000 more things I've learned than in the past,” the Frenchman said.
“I've been learning a lot, I'm still learning and improving myself a lot as well,” he added.
The 26-year-old has got the some amazing talent and it will be interesting to see whether he makes his way to the grid in the coming season or not.
