Romain Grosjean tops timesheets once again on day two of last test at Barcelona – Formula 1 news
Lotus team driver Romain Grosjean has set the fastest lap time once again on the second day of the final pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
After he had an amazing run on day one, Grosjean was quite impressive on the second day too when he completed 124 laps with the best lap of 1 minute and 22.614 seconds. He would definitely have been very delighted with the performance of the car on track
and the team would now hope to do well in the upcoming F1 season starting on March 18, 2012 in Melbourne, Australia.
Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne set the second fastest lap on the second day with his best lap time of 1 minute 23.126 seconds but he completed only 31 laps due to some issues in the car’s engine. It seems like Toro Rosso still need to make improvements in
their car for the forthcoming season.
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull completed 85 laps during the day and set the third best lap time of 1 minute and 23.361 seconds. The current world champion would definitely try to achieve more mileage in the next two days to make sure the car’s reliability
for the upcoming season.
Former world champion, Fernando Alonso seemed impressive while setting the fourth fastest lap of the day with 1 minute and 23.447 seconds and completed 125 laps. Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham completed 104 laps during the day and set the fifth fastest lap
time of 1 minute and 23.828 seconds.
Sauber driver, Kamui Kobayashi ended as the sixth fastest with the time of 1 minute 23.836 seconds after completing 77 laps. The Japanese driver was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who completed 33 laps with his best lap time of 1 minute and 23.893
seconds but he did not leave the garage in the afternoon after the driveline issue happened just after the lunch.
Michael Schumacher set the eighth fastest time of the day after completing 79 laps with his best lap time of 1 minute and 23.978 seconds. The German driver was followed by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who completed 65 laps with his fastest lap time of 1 minute
and 24.111 seconds.
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna set the tenth best time of 1 minute and 24.925 seconds after completing 48 laps. He was followed by his teammate, Pastor Maldonado who completed 20 laps with his fastest lap time of 1 minute and 25.801 seconds.
