Romain Grosjean’s 2012 season round up so far – Formula 1 news
Romain Grosjean has been a great addition to the sport as the young driver has more than proved his worth in the current season.
The Franco-Swiss driver has been able to match up to his veteran teammate Kimi Raikkonen on some occasions the young driver has looked even better considering his experience and age.
Lotus have done well in the current season much better than they expected initially admitted by their team principal Eric Boullier.
A lot has to do with the car they have for the season but a lot also has to do with the driver line-up they have got themselves. On paper, the duo of Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen looked weak as the Finn was coming off from a two year hiatus and the Swiss
lacked the experience. Yet both of the drivers have done extremely well in the season to help the team move up to third in the Constructors’ standings. The team is only one point.
Grosjean is still looking to get a win in the season and that still remains his biggest goal of the season. The way he is racing in the season so far, he will not have to wait too long
The Swiss started off his season with two back-to-back retirements in the opening two races at the Australian Grand Prix and the Malaysian Grand Prix but he was able to bounce back from a poor start by finishing sixth with 8 points.
He improved his performance at Bahrain by finishing 3rd securing his first podium of the season and scoring 15 points in the process. Spain was another display of skilful driving as he finished 4th and scored 12 points.
Grosjean had to retire once again at Monaco but then quickly bounced back in Canada where he finished second and scored 18 vital points for his team.
The Swiss has been hurt by his retirements a lot so far, otherwise he could have been at much better standing in the season. The European Grand Prix ended with another retirement taking the tally of incomplete races to four so far in the season.
Grosjean finished sixth at the British GP followed by a poor result a poor result at the German GP where he finished the race at 18th place. He once again bounced back with another good performance at the Hungarian GP ending his season prior to the summer
break on a high by securing another podium and scoring 15 points.
It will be imperative for him to remain consistent for the remainder of the season in order to finish the season on a high. It will also be interesting to see how he fares once F1 resumes the season.
