The Stade Caen winger has been under the radar of Olympique de Marseille for quite some time but it seems that he might prefer a move to Stade Rennais who could lose Jires Kembo-Ekoko this summer
While talking to the media a few weeks back, Caen star, Romain Hamouma’s agent said that he had an agreement with Caen to start negotiations over the player’s transfer with the first club that contacted them.
“We had a moral agreement with Caen for negotiations with the club who contacts first. We will abide till the end and will not enter into anything right now. There were inquiries but to date I have received absolutely nothing written from a club. We will
wait until the last moment, depending on the place where Romain will also benefit from more playing time.”
A few weeks back, French media claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 had already reached an agreement in principle with Caen over a move for the youngster.
Despite recurring knee injuries, the 24-year-old winger is appreciated by Marseille. However, in recent weeks, contacts from OM have cooled down. Reports claim that coach Didier Deschamps is not really keen on signing the player this summer despite sporting
director Jose Anigo campaigning for the player’s arrival.
The former Laval man’s contribution hasn’t really convinced Deschamps who wants a more dependable player in his roster.
Reports in French media now claim that the player is also attracting interest from Britain. Stade Rennais have also been monitoring Hamouma’s progress for quite some time.
Moreover, the Bretons are likely to lose the services of Jires Kembo-Ekoko this summer. The player has become a popular name in Lille and could join the northerners.
Since arriving at the Normandy club in June 2010, Hamouma has scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists in a side that usually ends up fighting for survival in Ligue 1.
At Stade Rennais, Hamouma will most certainly have a lot of opportunities to showcase his talents that have seemingly gone unnoticed during his stay at Caen. Furthermore, under Frederic Antonetti, Hamouma might start reaching his potential which will never
be realised if he chooses to stay at Caen.
