Romain Jouan, Inigo Cervantes-Huegun cruise into the second round – ATP ORBETELLO Challenger 2011
Frenchman Romain Jouan thrashed out compatriot Jonathan Eysseric 6-2, 6-2 on Tuesday to move into the second round of ongoing 2011 ORBETELLO Challenger Series in Orbetello, Italy. Un-seeded at the event, Jouan displayed some cracking
tennis in a match that lasted for only sixty one minutes.
Jouan made a bright start to the match as he broke the serve early in the opening set to take control of the contest. Not allowing his opponent any chance to play his shots, he raced to 4-1 lead in the set.
Making the challenger run for his money, he smashed his ferocious forehand and blistering backhand winners all over the court. Converting his second break chance in eight game of the set, the Frenchman pocketed the opener to take
the set score lead 1-0.
The second set also followed a very similar pattern with Jouan dominating all areas of the game. He kept breaking the serve regularly and made his opponent’s game play look completely ineffective.
Breaking the serve twice, he put himself in the driving set and then executed his shots to perfection. Handling the situation extremely well, he showed no signs of nerves on his fourth and final service game as he blasted a forehand
winner down the line to close out the contest in straight sets.
Serving with control and accuracy, Jouan took control of the points right from the start and then placed his shorts at will to earn cheap points. Taking his chances, he served powerfully on his second serve as well to claim 86
per cent of the points.
Eysseric lacked firepower in certain areas of the game. He made unforced errors at crucial moments in the match to let his opponent dominate. Ranked 282nd in the world, Eysseric will be hoping to achieve better results
when he returns to the Association of Tennis Professionals tour.
Qualifier Inigo Cervantes-Huegun also powered his way to the second round of the ATP tournament with a solid 6-4, 6-3 victory over Max Raditschnigg of Austria.
Cervantes-Huegun looked in great touch right from the start of the clash. His rival on the other seemed to be feeling a bit out of sorts as he made a few costly double faults early in the opening set.
Cervantes-Huegun broke serve four times in the match and held on to most of his serve games to get a solid grip on the match. However he will be looking to toughen himself even more to continue his impressive run on the clay courts
of Orbetello. The Spaniard wasted a lot of break chances in the match and he will be looking to improve himself in that department of the game.
