Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly blocked his side’s pursuit of FC Porto star Hulk, citing his €100 million price-tag as the reason.
Amongst the host of top clubs monitoring the progress of the Brazilian International, Chelsea were the ones who stood a solid chance of signing him. Andre Villas-Boas worked with the player at Estadio do Dragao and it was reported that he was keen on being
re-united with his former protégé.
The player was also eager to join the English Premier League giants, as he looked to ply his trade at one of the biggest clubs in the world and challenge for honours at the highest level. Backed by the billions of their Russian owner, Chelsea were favourites
to land the former Tokyo Verdy man.
However in a recent turn of events, Abramovich has aborted the transfer, as he claims that Hulk’s price tag is too high.
