Roman Hagara happy with Red Bull Extreme Sailing’s effort on Day 1 of Extreme Sailing Series Act 7
First day of Extreme Sailing Series Act 7 was full of thrill and excitement, as the commencement of the event on Mediterranean waters attracted a huge number of spectators on the shores. Roman Hagara’s Red Bull Extreme Sailing showed one of the great performances
on Day 1 at Nice, France, to dominate the 11 Extreme 40 boat fleet.
Hagara’s crew members comprising of Hans Peter Steinacher, Will Howden and Craig Monk made success possible with their terrific sailing techniques. Red Bull Extreme Sailing took three of four scheduled races to hit the top spot on the podium with 35 points.
Skipper, Roman Hagara believes they had a hard day due to lighter wind conditions, but they are still happy with the final result of first day.
While speaking the local media at the end of Day 1 at Nice, Hagara said, “It was really hard today, we had almost no wind, a lot of sun and it was really hard to race these boats. But we went out really good at the start all the times, out of four starts
we had one OCS but the other were really good. Then we were in the front of the fleet and it was easy for us. I like these wind conditions, always in the Tornado when it was light we were good.”
France’s Groupe Edmond de Rothschild skippered by Pierre Pennec finished the opening day on second place with 31 points while home favourite, Team Extreme Nice Côte d’Azur led by Jean-Pierre d**k took third position with 31 points.
