Roman Pavlyuchenko could leave Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United interested
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639, the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur striker, revealed he was still undecided over his future. The Russia international said while he was comfortable with the English Premier League side, he was not sure if his services were still required
at the club. He also claimed there were too many strikers at White Hart Lane and that he expected someone to leave in the current transfer window.
Pavlyuchenko said in an interview:
“I feel very much adapted and comfortable at Tottenham.”
Pavlyuchenko signed for the London side in the summer of 2008 for an estimated fee of £14 million from Spartak Moscow. Despite having an impressive goal tally at his previous club, Pavlyuchenko was not preferred as the first choice striker by Tottenham Hotspur
boss Harry Redknapp. The likes of Robbie Keane, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe were chosen over him time and time again.
As compared to his first two seasons, the Russian striker has improved considerably last season, managing to find the back of the net in important fixtures. Redknapp reportedly hinted Pavlyuchenko could very well go on to be a regular if he kept up his good
form. In his three seasons at the club, Pavlyuchenko has made a total of 99 appearances in all competitions and has scored 38 goals.
However, Pavlyuchenko did not think that was a possibility if Tottenham Hotspur did not offload any of their existing strikers in the summer transfer window. With five strikers all vying for the starting striker position, competition at White Hart Lane has
reached an all time high. Pavlyuchenko revealed he felt it best if a striker was either sold or loaned out during the summer.
He continued:
“We now have five strikers. There's myself, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robbie-Keane-c31215 and Rafael van der Vaart, who I also consider to be a forward.
Obviously, someone is going to be either sold or sent on loan.”
Having previously hinted on a White Hart Lane exit if he was not promised regular football in the upcoming season, Pavlyuchenko said he was uncertain about his future. The striker admitted his stay with the Spurs was also linked to the club’s transfer policy,
which was very vague at the point. The Russian forward said:
“There is no news about my contract yet, so all we have to do now is to wait and see.
As far as I can judge, the club still want to determine who they buy in the summer.”
If Pavlyuchenko does leave the Premier League side he will most likely return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, even though some Premier League sides have shown interest in the 29-year-old striker. The most notable amongst them are Newcastle United, who could make a shock offer
for the striker if he decides he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
