    which means

    The Etruscans : from them the region had been called Etruria and TUSCIA FOR ROMANS , then Tuscania and Toscana"


  2. Roman name for Tuscany is Tuscia (hence the modern name Toscana).

    Etruria can't be identified with Toscana as it was a much wider region including parts of the Tuscia(Tuscany), of Latium (Lazio) , Umbria and Emilia Romagna.

  3. As i can remember the name Tuscany is derived from an Etruscan tribe that settled there about 1000 BC. Tuscia came into official use under the Roman Empire in the 3rd century AD.
