  1. There are surviving Romanov members who lived for a long time in Paris and now live all over.  They have been acknowledged by Russia (post-USSR) and the Orthodox Church but there is no move to reinstate the royalty in any form.  However, I believe they can visit Russia but they get no special treatment other than normal VIP treatment.

  2. Yes.  But there is no special treatment for royalty in present day Russia.

  3. they were up to 1917 ad  when the russian revoluition took place

  4. The Romanovs were royalty. There are no longer royals in power in Russia. There may be royalty living in Russia, but they are treated no differently than other citizens. Most Russian royals left Russia at the time of the executions.

  5. The romanov's were executed to usher in the Russian Communism regime.  No one in that family is still alive.  There are rumors that Anastasia survived by escaping and there have been numberous reports on this woman who claimed to be Anastasia but she never would come out and admit it or not.  If Anastasia did survive she would have sought refugee status with a fear to never return to Russia and/or never reveal herself for fear that Russian units would come find her.  This woman suspected to be Anastasia is a very stubborn and elite woman and could very well have been the Lady, however, we will never know.

If cousins and distant relatives did survive the execution and remained in Russia at that time, they would have been treated no different that the normal citizen...as the guise of communism provides for such.

If they were to come out today and scream at the top of their lungs that they are surviving descendants or the decendants themselves.  Russia could be inclined to recognize them, but the state is still in the Post Communism reconstitution phases and giving them a title or reinstating their privelges might be a problem.

  6. The Romanovs (Czar Nicholas II, Czarina Alexandra, Grand Duchess Tatiana, Tsarevich Alexi, Grand Duchess Anastasia, Grand Duchess Olga, and Grand Duchess Maria) were executed (murdered) in July 1918 along with their physician (Tsarevich Alexi was a hemophiliac) and three servants.  Since all of the Czar's children were murdered, there are no direct descendants of Czar Nicholas II. [The Tsarevich was the Crown Prince and the Grand Duchesses were his sisters, the Princesses.  They were elevated to Grand Duchesses since the rank of Grand Duchess was higher that the rank of Princess]

Lenin personally ordered the executions so that the White Russians (the Russian forces that opposed the Bolshevicks or Red Russians) would no longer have the Royal Family as a rallying point.  The war between the Whites and the Reds ( the Russian Civil War) lasted from 1917 until 1923.

  7. All of the Romanovs were executed during the Russian Revolution. They no longer exist. And if they were still alive, I do not think they would be.
