Hi

I am going on the honeymoon with the wife,..to Italy in September.

We want to fly in Rome and spend a couple of days in Florence and a couple of days in Tuscany and then couple of day in Rome before we fly back to Cyprus.

However we want to do Rome>Tuscany, Tuscany>Florence and Forence>Rome We want to do this by train (hate flying) is it do-able? How much time does it take and how much does it usually cost? what's the best trip to take? Since we are arriving and leaving from Rome we are thinking of doing taking this route Rome>Tuscany>Florence>Rome. Any advice? or perhaps a etter destination to go by train from Rome?

  1. That is definitely do-able. I went to Europe last summer for 2 weeks and while in Italy we took the train from Rome to Florence and just spent the day there. Florence has amazing scenery and the restaurants are much more traditional Italian that we would expect. The shopping is also awesome.

  2. First of all, Tuscany is not a city but a region, whose chief-town is Florence itself.

So maybe you want to go only from Rome to Florence.

Going by train is very easy and comfortable and it's the best thing to do. There are many trains (nearly every 30 minutes) getting there in 1.30 - 2 hours, with a cost varying from 36 euro for a fast train (eurostar) to 16 euro for a slow one (regionale).
