Rome to Venice?

I am planning a trip to Italy (from the US). I would like to stay in Rome for a few days and then travel to Venice...or the other way around. Is there an airport in Venice? If not, how should I travel from Rome to Venice, and how much does it cost?

I've made that trip before & been to Venice several times. No doubt about it, no question, the train is best. None of the airport hassles. The view is great out the window. And in both cases the train stations are in center city so you don't have the hassle of having to get from airport to city center. This is very important, believe me. Rome airport is VERY far from city center, don't take taxi unless you want to pay way over 100 euros; take the train or bus from airport to city center. Venice airport isn't too far from town but still you're looking at 35+ euro cab fare. Take train & avoid that hassle (and all the other utter hassles of flying these days).

Train would be better, and much easier. Take it overnight so you you don't miss a day of sightseeing.

The venice's airport is called Marco Polo and it's located in Tessera near the ss14 (state road) at about 8 miles north of the city

by train, from Roma Termini Station to Venezia-Mestre it takes from 4h30 up to 5h50 depending on which train you'll take and I think it will cost around 50 euros

hey take the train. (www.trenitalia.com) venice has 2 airports - marcopolo and trevisio.

they are a good one hour's journey from main venezia.

the train takes you straight into venice.

also on the train try to avoid the eurostar trains , there are cheaper but slower trains (extra hour for journey, will save you 20-30 euros)

There is airport in Venice. You can find cheap flights from Rome to Venice. Try MYAIR company, or Wizz Air, Or Sky Europe!

Venice and Rome both have two airports… but it is more hassle then the train. The airports are outside the cities. The train station is pretty close to the centre and if you’ll come to the airport you’ll most probably have to take a train or a taxi there anyway…

It’s about 5 hours while you sit comfortable, and watch the beautiful landscapes of Italy. There are no other costs and time spending like taxis or other trains to the airports. There are many trains during daytime so you don’t really need to book ahead.

The train would be the cheapest way to get from rome to venice also that way you pass threw other places and you canmaybe stop off and see other things. If you dont want to see othr things they have a speed train that takes about 2hrs to 3hrs to get to venice.
