http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672, the young Chelsea striker, has revealed he does not regret joining the English Premier League giants despite not being given a chance to prove himself in the first team.
Lukaku moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window for a fee of 18 million pounds from Anderlecht. The reason for his move was simple; the youngster was a Chelsea supporter and wanted to play for his boyhood club along with his idols.
Unfortunately for him, Lukaku has made just six appearances in the English Premier League, with all of those coming under previous Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas. Since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international has not made any appearances.
With the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, there were reports suggesting Lukaku could be on his way to Werder Bremen on a season long loan deal. However, there seems to be no confirmation about the report but Lukaku did admit he was looking for a loan move
away.
Lukaku said in an interview:
“I need to play more games. It has not been as I imagined at Chelsea. Both Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo have stuck with experienced players.
"Playing games is the most important thing for my career right now and for that reason it's better to look at other places."
According to the youngster, he wanted to play more games, something which was not possible at Chelsea at the moment. He did not however, blame the manager’s for not picking him in the starting XI since he realized they had to stick with more experienced
players.
As for his options, Lukaku admitted he was not yet certain whether he wanted to remain in the English Premier League or go abroad for more regular football experience. Though, he did confirm that he would eventually return to Chelsea.
He revealed:
“I leave all options open. I know that I am capable of playing for a top club in Europe, but perhaps it is better that I take one step backwards now so I can then take two forwards.
My aim is to gain experience and then return to Chelsea.”
