Romeo Crennel has last chance this Sunday to prove his worth – NFL News
The Kansas City Chiefs this season had a lot to suffer. Apart from injuries to many key players they have seen their coach Todd Haley fired. Injuries to Matt Cassel and Jamaal Charles have created a lack of depth in the team. Both
these players along with Tony Moeaki and Eric Berry had their names placed on the injury reserve list. This gap could not be filled in effectively and is something which Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli admitted to having failed to do so. Pioli had
talked of improving the roster weeks back but that has been something that has still not been worked out.
Now with the season nearing the end, Romeo Crennel can achieve the task of attaining permanent status with the Chiefs and the Chiefs can also succeed in knocking the Denver Broncos out of the playoff race. This is something that
Crennel also hopes to achieve.
"All these players, they want to win. They want to try to win.I don't think anybody goes into a game trying to lose. Every player wants to win." Crennel said.
Crennel was appointed the interim coach of the Chiefs after Todd Haley was fired. He had been designated for the remainder of the three games. Crennel the former defensive coordinator for the Chiefs has made his presence felt in
the team. The defence of Chiefs underwent a complete changed outlook and it became their biggest strength. Crennel, no doubt deserves the credit.
Crennel is intent on acquiring the post of head coach for the Chiefs on a permanent basis and has already made his intentions public. Pioli has already indicated that Crennel would be considered for the post and spoke of the respect
he commands in the locker room.
Crennel is well aware of how much this game means to his future career and any shortcomings may jeopardize his career.
"I know there are some questions about my status and how this game might affect my status. I've said all along that at the end of the year, a decision is going to be made, and I was going to do the best I could for the three
games I had an opportunity to do that," Crennel said.
Crennel looked at his best as his team went in to win the game against the Green Bay Packers. The victory against the unbeaten Packers was a big achievement that will probably have a very positive impact on Crennel’s future with
the chiefs. However, a 16-13 defeat to the Oakland Raiders last Sunday may have negated the effect of the success against the Packers. This Sunday is the last chance that Crennel has to prove his worth.
